The quality of wool is determined by its fibre diameter, crimp, yield, colour, and staple strength. Fibre diameter is the single most important characteristic, determining the wool’s quality and price.

The process starts with the selection of the finest woollen fibres. The fleece is manually sheered from the sheep then graded and scoured to remove excess lanolin. These fibres are blended and carded to align them, forming slubbings which are dyed and spun into different thicknesses of yarn to be woven into the cloth. The fabrics are then milled and felted to produce the soft handle, lustre and finish of RU Wools.
